my tractor has the pan type seat but is this seat a correct replacement?

You may have a time trying to get your leg over that thing,the ones I have been around were all pan style.
 
That 3 piece black/white seat is for the 706 and up tractors. Early 4/560 had the 2 piece pan style seat, then went to the deluxe like in your second pic. I don't have any close up pics of ours handy. The pan style seat has the suspension like the late SM thru the 450, the deluxe seat suspension is different.

To use that seat the torsion suspension seat frame is needed for that type. Other type used a coil spring under the seat and a shock absorber and 4 bolts held the seat pan on.
 
thats a sweet tractor hope to get mine looking that good someday . did ih really rate them as a five plow tractor?
 
Yes, but most all manufacturers tended to rate them one more bottom than they should have been. I have no trouble with 4x14s. The plow days we have been going to for many yrs the ground is usually really hard/tight pulling and I tend to bring one less bottom than I normally would pull, no matter the color tractor, hence the 3x14 in the pics.

that is the correct seat. maybe the very early ones had the pan seat but I have never seen one on any of the 60 series.
