I broke off the head of the screw that you take out to oil the fan pulley. Can I drill another hole and screw in a Zerk, then grease it instead of
using oil?

I posted this question with the IH guys and got one answer saying that it wouldn't work.

Please give me some advice on what my options are, thanks.

You could add the Zerk,take it out, and fill with oil and reinstall the Zerk as a plug,it should work fine. JD corn head grease would work fine too.(runny like oil but enough body to run through a grease gun.)

Well, maybe you should listen to the experts. It sounds like you want to ask until someone tells you it will work?

Yes you can do it, but it doesn't mean you should. Check out your post on the Farmall corner again. Then continue to watch it for a few days for other comments.

That system was made to runwith oil. So drill and tap then add oil and replace with a plug. Depending on how much use the tractor is getting thin grease could work but remember its on a fan that cools so the greae wont get in the system like its supposed to. That system was designed to work with oil and now 70 pluss yrs they still work if maintained.

why don't you drill out the broken screw, pick out the pieces of thread, get a new screw?

if you don't like that whole system you can get a replacement fan/bearing assy from Case that uses a sealed bearing, no more worries about oiling.
