37 JD B electric start conversion

Have Dad's 37 B unstyled hand start and would like to convert to electric start. Pioneer Power swap meet starts today. Can anyone tell me what i would need to buy, if this is possible and a guess on what the parts might run. I know that i have a mag so i won't be able to charge the battery but i would like to play with the tractor but just can't take the hand crank start anymore. Any and all help would be appreicated.
 

Flywheel for e/start
flywheel guard
starter motor / switch & activating lever
crankcase cover for electric start & gasket
Some way to hold a battery & a couple battery cables.
That will get you started...
 
with the tractor being a 1937 what year parts would interchange. i see postings for early and late model B's. just dont want to buy something that wont fit. Thanks John
 
Just a guess but I am thinking it would have to be from only an unstyled tractor as the styled went to a quarter inch bigger piston so would think also a larger flywheel and different crank case cover. I think a BO-BI one or the other was avaible with a factory starter but finding that would be about like finding hens teeth. Best bet is to hoop a starter to the PTO shaft and go that way. I saw a Farmall F-12 set up that way. I don't know if the starter generator off a large garden tractor would have enough power to crank it or not but if it would if you could get a pully mounted to the flywheel and mount one of the combinations it might work as it would have to be a unit designed to run constiantly. And there were pullys made to mount on a flywheel for to run a manure loader, again finding one of those like finding that hens tooth.
 
You have to realize that a good engine will take more arm power than some of us have anymore just to crank it over. That is where the hard starting problem comes in.
