Stuck clutch

Hi, many years ago we had a stuck clutch o n a
Ford 9n. My dad drove it into a tree with pedal in.
contact was on front axle between wheel and rad
area.
he wasnt going fast. It broke loose.
If you try that be careful. Ed will

Stuck clutches are common. That said blocking the clutch pedal down when parked helps. Firing it up and driving it around if you can do so safely holding the pedal down works many times. The bigger the load on it the better. Of course if it is stuck due to other things nothing short of splitting the tractor will fix it

Start it in gear and working the throtlle shift it up to the highest gear you can make. Road gear if
possible. Then get up to half to 3/4 of top engine speed. Hold the clutch down and quickly open
and close the throttle with about a one or two second pause between. Repeat several times if
needed. That puts a pretty severe shock on the clutch and drive train. If that won't break it loose
only taking it apart will be the answer. Again having a safe location to do this is a requirement.

If "shock loading" it doesn't break it loose, you can try to pry it loose.

If there is an access cover, or sometimes you can go through the starter hole, block the clutch pedal down, reach between the openings on the side of the pressure plate (if so designed) with a sharp scraper or knife blade, try to pry the clutch disc away from the flywheel and pressure plate. You may need to turn the engine around to get at it from several sides. If there is enough room, sometimes you can loosen the pressure plate bolts to get it loose. Just be careful to loosen and tighten them a little at a time, otherwise you can warp the cover.

What you don't want to do is use any type penetrating oil or WD40!

Do what you said but hang on and stab just one brake on. It really works as I've done it a few times. Both brakes will not do it. Just one will. Be prepared to counter steer to hold it straight.

before starting I gear start it in neutral and let it warm up. Then shut it off and start it again in gear. You may need to first drive it in first gear to a place where you can start in a high gear.

you could also pull it around the yard with another tractor (or truck) in gear like youre trying to pull start it, key off, clutch pedal pushed in. the load of the engine compression against the driveline should break the clutch loose.

I had the clutch stick on my 5030 ford. I by passed the neutral safety switch.Wired the clutch pedal down. Put it in
high range high gear and started it. Hit the brakes, third time it broke loose. Unwired the clutch pedal, drove it back
to pole barn.I hooked the safety switch back up. It hasn't given me any problems since...good luck MTP...

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I suspect that the pilot bearing has seized and the input shaft has galled to it.
