John Deere Paint question

I am painting my Grandfathers Model M and wonder if John Deere paint is a good product or should I look somewhere else for a better
product,I need primer and paint and at that point the hard part is done in prepping the tractor and I don't want to put something on
that will fade in a couple years. Thanks

It depends on how much you want to spend there are much higher quality paints for a lot more money. The Deere brand is made by Valspar and I have used both the John Deere paint and Valspar paint with good results. If you want a lasting shine use the hardener with it, but careful use the proper equipment to protect your self from breathing fumes with hardener, they are very dangerous to your lungs and eyes. If you don't use hardener use a good wax every year to protect and bring back the shine.

I'm guessing if you are worried about fading you are probably going to store your tractor inside. I'd think John Deere paint would last fine. Now if you are going to park it out in the weather 365 days a year you better buy automotive paint.

Yes the JD paint is very good paint, use their hardner with it. The paint is cheaper then Dupont, PPG or Valspar.
