Case 830 : Looking for information

I have just purchased a 1967 Case 830 Comfort King and I of course have some questions. I purchased it from an old farmer who recently passed away and has had this tractor from new. I am a JD man but this tractor looked good and thought it might make a good back up tractor and do some field work and possibly Round baling. The serial # is 8318928 . Now I am trying to check the Hydraulic Fluid and of course need to know how to fill the Hydraulic fluid if needed and would like to know the location of the hydraulic pump. I would like to put more lighting on the tractor and I am wondering since it is a 6 volt system with two 6 volt batteries if I can use 12 volt lights or if I have to buy special lights. I am also looking for a service or operators manual. Does anyone have one they could copy and send digitally or would be willing to sell? Thanks for any help. I am sure I will have more questions as I learn more about the tractor.

The electrical system is 12V The two 6V batteries are hooked in series not parallel.
The hyd fill/dipstick is at the rear. The dipstick is part of the breather, and when removed you add the hydraulic oil there. the hyd pump is just above the breather/dipstick. the hyd oil lubes the entire tranny. Holds about 15gal.
Scroll down the list of forums to the Case DB forum, and post your questions down there. The guys there will be more than willing to help you out with your needs including parts.

Loren is right on about everything he told you. As far as lights go, If you don't have the lights on the front of the fenders, you can add them pretty easily. The mount for them is there, you just have to remove the cover plate. You can get the lights and washers to mount them from Elmers Repair.com along with any other parts you may need. I posted a pic of my 830 showing the lights located on the fenders. They are known as "cultivator lights".

Yes! That is exactly what I want to do with mine. I will check that out. How do you like your tractor overall? Is it a good workhorse and what do you use yours for or just for show? I have a JD 5220 as well that is awesome for doing hay but too light for other farm chores such as plowing so I am hoping the 830 will do that for me. Thanks for your input.

I like my 830. Mine does mostly loader work and haying. They are pretty easy to work on for the average person and pretty well bullet proof with reasonable care.
