Took my grandson along on the 7 mile ride to pick up my new mower. I like it so far and am excited to see how it does in the field.

I traded this one in. I bought it new back in 2003 and paid just over $14000 for the JD.
Will say it was one tough mower, and never gave me any trouble more than a couple broken spring bolts and one spring.

That's Purdy! How did you hook that hitch to your truck? Must have had a straight hitch for your receiver.

I bought one identical to it last week. I'll tell you what, for the price of them,it makes you think twice about taking one out and getting it dirty.

I don't know if you had the swivel hitch on your Deere, but I notice you do on the Kuhn. It'll have a bit of a learning curve, like anything, but you gonna love it. At the end of a swath, there ain't a lotta manueuvering- you just swing around and go. It's a real step up from a clevis hitch......

I like the swivel type hitches. I wonder if the resale value for the Kuhn will be as good as your JD was??? Kuhn equipment is pretty well made but the resale around here on the hay tools is terrible.

Over here John Deere and Kuhn mowers are exactly the same except for the paint colour!....The photo is of my old JD1360...a good reliable machine...also sold by MF in some countries....Ya never know what you are buying!

(quoted from post at 21:09:34 04/16/15) So, an update to the swather, Cycle mower ? Lernin' iz good. Tnx

I believe it's a disc mower/conditioner. A huge step up from a sickle mower as far as speed goes, but less headaches as far as waiting for good cutting weather.

Well I gotta say it. Children on tractors? Never. Ever. The horror stories you read on this very site. Things that just cannot happen. Children on rider lawn mowers? OK.
Even if everything always is always safe, that little child may some day sneak out to the barn; "Now I think this is how Gramps starts his big tractor.."

I'm the one with the Vicon, not JD Farmer. I had a Hesston that I'd used for 20 years. The Vicon didn't have a conditioner. The Kuhn has the flail conditioner in it.

Yes. Just like the one in the picture. Mine's still sitting at the dealer. I had a Hesston conventional sickle type mower conditioner. I bought a used Vicon last year but the rolls fell apart. Didn't want to make the same mistake on a used one again,so I bought the new one.
