Plowed today with the big Ford

I finally got my rebuilt dash panel in the big Ford tractor today. I gave it a try by plowing about an acre and then, a flat tire. It is on the inside tire so the dual has to come off too. Oh! Well, at least the ground is dry enough to plow which is pretty early for this area. Tire repair guy will be here tomorrow.
Had better luck yesterday, passed my DOT physical so I am legal to drive for a while longer. I don't know how many more years they will let me drive as I am already 81 years old. I am in good health but when you get old you are considered an at risk driver even though I drive as well as any other driver regardless of their age.
 
Good deal on passing the DOT exam. Hope you can drive a long time! A couple of years ago in our local paper , in the accident reports, was an accident with a comercial driver at the age of 100. The accident, he hit a turkey and broke the winshield. Could have happened to anybody!

BIL is 59. History of heart bypass and pacemaker. They pulled is license first of April. Got to see his heart Dr. before they will ok him for DOT. But this time he has to have a sleep apnea test. His insurance won't pay till he comes up with $5000. deductable. It's hard sometimes.

Congratulations! I go for mine at 66 years in a few weeks. I don't anticipate any problems. What is your big Ford? Mine is a 9000 that works only on weekends.
 
There's an old saying, "Use it or lose it". It refers to something else, but I think it applies to driving skills as well.

I'm 80, and it infuriates me when members of the medical profession treat me like a doddering old geezer who only wants to be comfortable for what little time he has left.

If I have a physical ailment, I want it fixed so I can get on with my life.

I checked into a local hospital for a colonoscopy a couple of months ago. The nurses kept asking me if I was able to stand by myself. I assured them that I had mounted and balanced a set of tires on my van the day before. Then, after the procedure went well, the doctor that did it said at my "advanced age" I shouldn't need another one unless symptoms indicated it. Sheesh!

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, but it's beginning to become a sore spot with me.
 
It is a 8830 with 4 wheel drive. Lots of power but likes it's fuel. I only use it in the spring and the fall to work land and haul the grain cart.
 
They don't want us to work. You know, of course, that people with bad tickers can keep driving their smaller trucks and cars. They just want to discriminate against those who might be making a little money driving.

My cousin has an 8830 as well, along with two TW-30s and various smaller ones. he uses it to chisel in the spring, and to pull his chopper. He is not that far from you in northern VT on CT river.
