Now THAT was close

I finished all of the animal chores tonight and started putting tractors and pickups in the sheds. I gathered eggs and fed the chickens on the way to the house. The Mrs had steaks out so I started the grill and threw them on. About that time I realized my iPhone wasn't in my overalls pocket any more. Last I had seen it was about 5:00 when I was getting the sprayer hooked up and the tips clean.

I just had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. I ran in and grabbed Mrs Air's phone and started calling mine and walking the farm. I found it in one of the hog pens. Thank heavens they were still busy eating. I am currently running the case through the dishwasher. It needed it. Did I mention we had an inch of rain last night? Whew.

Well you made out better then I did. I was mowing on a Ford 8N and since it is small I was doing near the trees. As I when under a low branch I leaned over and my Samsung Note 3 slipped from my shirt pocket, I grabbed for it as I felt it move but only managed to swat it down right in front of the rear tire!
(Major Face Palm)
The rear tire went right over it and the screen was trashed!
Thankfully it was insured! Still it cost me $99 bucks, but I had the replacement at the front gate by the next afternoon.
Oh well first broken cell phone in 15 years...

Best feature I have is the magnetic grip for the otter box. It consists of a magnet and a spherical ball. The magnet glues to the phone and I mounted the base on the dash of the tractor. I can attest to the grip. I had my hands full one day and stuck the phone to the side of the dodge. Of course I forgot it and off I headed. I remembered it 20 miles later. Still there and at speeds of 65 mph.

I'm going to have to get one of those. It would be handy to be able to stick it on the cowling in the tractors.

If it helps, I just looked and its marked "steelie" and "nite ize". Picked it up at the Verizon store. Originally I was going to get a hard case, cut it up, and screw it to the dash. This is way easier. The glue holds tight but allegedly can be removed and reinstalled. I clip it to the JDs or the CATs.

Walmart sells a bunch of camping / Scouting / outdoors supplies, and they have a cell phone water-proof fluorescent cell phone carrying case, only $5 or so. I strap one onto the dash of my tractors.

Baling hay last summer a helper lost his. We used mine and started walking the field . Heard it ringing but could not find it. DANG THING WAS IN A BALE!!! WE CUT IT OPEN AND THE PHONE WAS UNSCATHED!!!!

Think about 25 years ago Mrs Air would tell you while grilling call so and so after dinner,
they called earlier.

I am not sure that I would have put anything that had been in the hog pen in the dish washer. At least I wouldn't want my wife catching me doing something like that.

Last year early spring. I was hooking up the tiller to my super 55. I had one side hooked up and noticed the tractor smoking under the hood. I went up front to see what was going on and under the hood was on fire. A mouse had built a nest in there and the exhaust caught it on fire. Well I'm in the barn and think if I don't get this out the barn will burn to. So I quickly jump on the tractor and drive it out to the center of the driveway, thinking it shouldn't catch anything else on fire here. In the process I drag the tiller with me only hooked up on one side and top link. After putting the fire out with a extinguisher. I notice I have lost my "I" phone out of my shirt pocket so I go looking. I find it in the barn. I had drove the rear tire over it and drag the tiller over it. Surprise. No damage.

That's why i am glad I only have a flip phone, and it's a rugged one. Stays in my pants front pocket, so I feel it vibrate, LOL.

Hot tip. Here is an app for you. "Find My iPhone". You can get it free in the app store. All you do is connect it to your iTunes account. Then if you misplace your iPhone you can login via any other device (iPad, PC, Mac, another iPhone) and it will give you the ability to show on a map where your iPhone is, have your phone play a loud sound so it is easier to find. It's ability to show you where it is on a map is darn accurate. Not only will it show you which building, but where it is in the building.

Came home from work one night, stopped at the mailbox- on the road was a flip phone, in 3 pieces. "Sucks to be him", I thought. Then looked closer- it was mine. Apparently left it on top of the car when I left that morning, now it was toast. Just as well- battery wasn't holding a charge very well, anyhow.

On my way to work this morning I had to pull over to secure a tarp that I forgot I put in the bed the day before. Got out, put tarp in toolbox and took back off. Got to my son's mom's house to drop him off and phone was gone. Doubled back and found it on the side of the road where I stopped. Must have slid out of my pocket jumping out of the truck.
