4010 John Deere

I have a problem on my 4010 john deere diesel as fuel is leaking at the top of tank where injector bleed off line return to tank, I see fuel on top of where fitting attaches to tank. does anyone know how this fitting attaches to tank, I do not know if fitting is welded to tank or if it has threads to attach. John Deere calls it part no. R26529 bushing. would appreciate information on how to repair the leak before dissembling anything.

Simplest thing to do is raise hood and have a PEEK which will take less than 5 minutes. I'm fairly confident fitting(R26529) is sweated into tank but return line may have a hole in it.

Have looked but someone has applied j.b. weld so cant see much, as I am still using so was wanting to know what was involved before taking it out of service.

If the fitting is still fairly tight, clean it up good, go to the hardware store and get a tube of Seal All and put some around the fitting and you are good to go.

The fitting is soldered to the tank then has a brass compression fitting threaded into it. The brass nut on top tightens a compression sleeve that seals to the pipe. I have seen the brass parts get loose and worn from vibration and replacing them will fix it. I have also seen the solder joint fail and need to be repaired. The brass fitting is a common hardware store fitting.
