Took a picture of the neighbor's mailbox. That's a mighty big valve for the crossmember. I need to ask what these came from.

It may be a valve out of an engine in a pipeline pumping station. We have two pump stations not too far from us and those NG motors fill a huge engine room.

Speaking of big engines I was in the generator building at a landfill up here last week. They have three V20 methane fueled cat engines at around 2500 HP @1800rpm each. That was a wow moment. Next time I'm taking pictures. Jim

I would guess a straight eight. I count five mains and five rod journals above ground. One ting about it, with a main between every rod, that sucker should last!

I see only 4 rod journals and 5 main bearing journals. The valve might have come from a Waukesha ship's engine. Too big for a locomotive engine. Must be a BIG 4 cylinder engine.

That valve looks to be too big to use as a hitch pin for my old tractors. Drawbar hole is too small. LOL. I do like the mailbox post idea.

On mine, I used a connecting rod and piston from the same 855 cummins. I welded a 3/4 nut to the wrist pin (soft stuff to hard stuff, automatic weak link) and a spacer with a mounting plate to that. Worked well till the house movers that were moving a house from down the street broke the weld. I haven't had time to fix it yet.
