On April,8 it will be 66 years ago that there was a tragedy that received national news coverage.
Can anyone guess what it was all about and who was involved?
Hint" there was a recording artist from Louisville,Ky. that wrote a song about it.
This is tractor related, this man said his Dad ran a threshing outfit in Clarke county Ky. in the early 20th century.

A three year old girl fell down a well in California and died. Okay you tell me what happened on May 18, 1927 in Central Michigan or October 8, 1871 in Northern Wisconsin, both forgotten tragedies were many more people died.

Bath, Michigan 5-18-1927 school killing.
Peshtigo, Wisconcin 10-8-1871 fire.
Can you tell me what happened in Minnesota in 9-01-1894?

The country music artist also wrote some patriotic songs pertaining to the Korean war.

School bus wreck in Prestonburg, Kantucky, 29 children killed when bus ran off road into Big Sandy river.
I was in the army with a fellow that said he lost a cousin in that tragedy.

To be fair the Peshtigo fire was overshadowed by the other fire that
occurred that day. Thought Peshtigo was described as a firestorm, like a
tornado that caught fire. Many more people died there than other location.

EFV- Some people even said that the Peshtigo fire sparks blew across the water a started the Chicago fire.

OK since we now have Chicago and Wisconsin and way off date anyway. Nov 1912 in Lake Michigan. What happened and how it connects where it happened in WI with Chicago?

Corey- The Rouse Simmons was a three-masted schooner famous for having sunk in a violent storm on Lake Michigan in 1912. The ship was bound for Chicago with a cargo of Christmas trees when it foundered off the coast of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, killing all on board.

Ain't 'Lougle' Great?

I'm from TR that's how I know about it. If I recall most of the coast guard crew that went out to try and save them died as well.
