getting water in basement need to remove paneling to start, do I need to wear a special mask when doing this? thanks in advance Happy Easter.

Absolutely, it's the code enforced by OSHA code that is in the OSHA book 71,247.chapter 3879 paragraph 86: "Wear a dust mask or your babies will be born nekid"

Seriously it's up to you but I probably would just wear a particle mask.

Scuba mask if the water is still deep enough.
What was the cause of the water getting in?
A friend had a sump pump fail and insurance rebuilt a finished basement for him.
