Ran across this little guy over the weekend. I'm guessing mid 60's. Track marks on the ground show that it has moved recently.

Looks like the JD440 with 831 loader we had. Those were a 2 cyl. engine gas or a screaming Detroit Diesel. I think they were built no later than 1960.

Neighbor has a 440C with a 3 cyl JD Diesel I think? I was given a manual for one of those, and I gave it to him because he was having troubles with the injector pump...

I know it wasn't a Detroit (no puddle of oil under it...:p )

The 440 with the Detroit was a 2cylinder 53 ,as big as gets, all blat and no scat.
The 350's&450's were 3&4 cylinder small block J D Debueque power plants.

Looks like the 58, 440 I had. But mine had the dozer blade with exterior arms. Under carriage was all wore out. Front idlers were wore so bad, the track wore holes through the dozer arms. I had a lot of weld on it when I got rid of it.

No quit making them in 1960. I had a 1959. With a 2-53 Detroit. Changed the Injectors and revved it up to 2400. Made a horse out of it. What I remember best is how tired I got steering it. The brake is on the clutch levers.
