cabs for 1955 model 70 john deere diesel

[

Were cabs available for these tractors from the factory. This is a standard narrow front tractor. Does anyone know where I can find a cab to fit this tractor?

No 2 cylinder was available with a cab from Deere. Doesn't mean somebody didn't make a contraption for some of them. The "Heat Houser" probably wasn't made by Deere. It doesn't show up in either my parts, or Owners manuals! It could be a separate manual I guess.

Not true. Starting with the R, JD offered a factory all steel cab all the way through the 830. I'd say about half of those tractors around here had that cab including the R we owned back in the day. And the cab does show up in the 830 manual.

Picture isn't showing up on my computer. But I think I do recall seeing a photo scan out of a brochure or manual of a 70 with a factory cab. My guess is they were only available for the wheatlands.

When I was growing up, there was a crude factory-made (but I don't think DEERE) cab that had been taken off of a "D" the family had owned many years before because of being hot and noisy stored in an old barn on our property. Sadly, for unknown reasons, the barn burned down in the late 70's.

I wish I could remember the brand name or had a photo of it.

I do remember it had some sort of (yellowed) flexible plactic windows. (This was a full cab, not a "Heat Houser", and would have dated back at least to the 50's.)

Not factory but my neighbor had an aftermarket cab on his 730 row crop in the late 1960's. Can't remember the name. It was a rear entry and the three point hitch arms had to be removed because the cab floor came back along the battery box. Hiniker and Year Around were popular aftermarket cabs in this neck of the woods. Maybe it was one of them.

In the mid-50's dad had a cab made for his 51 A. I still have the cab. This same neighbor laughed at it and called it a tractor with a house on it. Ten years later that neighbor had one on his 730 and he was bragging it up. I still chuckle about it.

Automatic Manufacturing made a universal cab that started with the model A and continued up through the 30 series tractors. Their cabs also fit most other makes of tractors at the time. They were crude but served the purpose of protection from the elements.

Here is the link to the free JD parts book on the JD web site. The final answer for what was and wasn't built and optioned by Deere.
There are still people around who think Deere built a factory LP model G. And two cylinder 830's with sound guard bodies and 8 speed power shift.

Yep. JD's parts site shows a cab available for the 70. Thanks buickanddeere. Not only that an article written by Richard Hain mentions the cab for the 70 and it was available for the 720/730. So that makes the R through 830 and 70 through 730 standard tractors available with a factory cab.

Take a look at the parts list below.

There was no parts diagram/illustration available in the parts catalog.

Hope this helps.
