Pictures Of An AWESOME Day! :)

Here you go! I was living life out there today! :)

I spent some of the morning pulling a disc around, then there was an emergency machanic session on the edge of the field, then I decided to try plowing with the old Super C... WOW! That thing did an AWESOME job!

I hit lots of big rocks, but had a very good day... I pulled it right along in 2nd gear, and sometimes in 1st to go up that steep hill at the end...

This was my VERY first try at plowing on my own, so don't knock me too bad because my furrows aren't straight as an arrow! ;)

Pretty proud of myself to say the least... Thanks to all of you that have helped me get this far!!! Bryce

Oh no, that is my old Fowler chugging away down there! :p

No, if you can imagine it, there is a large bay RIGHT over the edge of the picture, and they were burning (more like smoking) a slash pile on the other side... Smoked up the whole valley!

Yep! Retired Farmer has it right! I am in Sagle ID, which is a little South of Sandpoint, which is about 45 min from Canada! :)

We usually have snow here... This was the first winter I have seen that we DIDN'T have snow this time of the year!!! CRAZY!

Hehehe, well, I thought that it was doing pretty good, but it chugged down 3 quarts of 10-30 when I got home!!!!

Wonder when that last time I checked the oil was.......

Thanks, were at 14* right now . Lol, the drifts are so deep I can't even get to my farmall h yet!

Not sure if this will work, but go to this link, it is a Satellite image of the local area.

The field that I am farming is shown, I plowed the North half of it today... Notice all the little trees that were in it! Made for a fun game of "find the stump"! :

Well Bryce congratulations!!! You got to have some fun with your tractors.

Your soil looks like it has clay and rocks in it. That makes for tough plowing. If you know where your going to plant some thing next year try plowing it in the fall. The freezing and thawing will make it easier to work the ground down.

Just be careful with those stumps. They can break your plow or hurt you if the tractor bounces around while plowing around them.

Looks like your doin a pretty good job sod very rarely plows really pretty the first year take a little to work it down but that's all right . no real way around that plowing in the fall does help a lot but sometimes you don't have the time or not sure what your going to be doin with the field for sure.

That was kind of my theory too! Just wanted to get it ripped up, didn't care if it was pretty or not.... Had a fun day doing it too!

As you can see, both of my Supervisors were there... The Woof Dog pictured was chasing rats/varmints and such... The yellow lab would lay RIGHT on the edge of the furrow, and then when I would come by for the next pass, she would get up, I would go by, then she would lay back down in the way again..... Nice......

Ya... No joke! We have LOTS of little tiny fields. The neighbors were jealous that I got "The Big One". They had been in the running wanting to come in on it, but I was there first! :)

This stuff was VERY rocky in spots. Only got about a 3rd of it done, and it is pouring down rain today...... That will mess it all up for sure!

Thank you!

We have Rocks, Logs, Dinosaurs, and old pieces of tractor in our soil!!!!

I will for sure plow it again this fall after I take the oats off of it... I think that would be much better for it, and me!

I kind of liked plowing with the SC here. It was a good workout for it in 2nd, and whenever I hit a rock or stump (if it didn't go through or over it) it would just STOP the tractor! And it is easier to just back up a little, pick up, and go over than it would have been to break away from the plow, then have to back up, hook up, and then get going again...

Worked good, was a good day for sure! Bryce

Furrows look good to me way over here in NY.
Besides I have trouble drawing a straight line with a yardstick and never tried it with a tractor.

Plow looks like it is doing a good job. I don't see a lot of sod on top. Plowing is getting to be a lost art. It doesn't matter how straight you go. As long as you have it plowed even depth, then it's fine. At least that is how I was taught. A good even plow job equals a good even crop. Still just plowing snow here.
