Plowing in the signs?

We all know about planting in the signs...some believe in it and some don't. Anybody ever heard of people plowing their ground in certain signs? I've heard of it but I don't know what the signs for that are. Is it like when you dig a hole and whether the moon is getting bigger or smaller will determine if you have more than enough dirt to fill the hole back or not have enough dirt to fill the hole. I've been thru that one...lol. I'm just curious about the plowing signs.

I've heard plowing under snow will sterilize the soil but back in my plowing days I plowed under snow in the fall and had a good crop the next year. In november of 74 I plowed under 8 inches of snow and didn't see any detrimental effects.

"Dry enough' is the best sign..Years ago my Brother and I pulled into a 40 acre field and made a head land with a 4430 and a 4630 and a couple 1450 moleboard plows, we made a couple rounds and decided it was too wet,,we came back to that field a week latter and finished it, as the corn came up latter on we could tell to the very round we made when it was wet, the corn was not "near" as good in the area where we made the first headland. It was a very good example for us and we never forgot it, had we went on and plowed it all that day we would have not known the reasons as clearly as we did..

My part of the world, we have started planting corn with frost
still on the ground, and we are often combining with snow on
the ground.

'Signs' is kind of a southern thing, where you all have time to
sit around and wait for whenever you feel like planting?

Here, if the ground dries out, you plant. There ain't nothing
else to wait for gotta go!

It would be a different set of rules up North Paul, I don't know how you guys up there make out as good as you do...we plant 120 day corn here and start as early as the first week of April and want to be all done by mid May..

Loren, come to think of it in the fall of 74 I had a brand new 1070 Case and five bottom plow. I forget the model number of the plow. It was a hydraulic reset and had enough clearance to plow under a bale of hay.
