Wiring up starter for D Brown 990

I got the starter back today from being rebuilt. After bolting it up, putting the thin wire with the clip holder onto the clip, and bolting the other thin wire to the bottom bolt on the solenoid and hooking up the ground wire, I find that when I touch the pos cable to the bolt onto the starter or onto the solenoid, the starter turns but the bendex dosent kick in. ALSO, it does this without the key being turned on OR the starter being activated by pushing down on the clutch. Any thoughts

Just a thought. I was tinkering with the wiring on my DB 850/Oliver 500 a few weeks ago. I did a search for it online and found seven wiring diagrams for it. That might be the quickest way to find what you're looking for.

I don't know if it's something you messed with, but the 990 is positive ground. Based on what I've seen with my 990, I'd be looking for frayed/cracked wires and corroded grounds.
