News reports about IRS impersonators scamming Americans out of near $15 million this year,,, the IRS reply "They are Amateurs"......

Local radio station had an item the other day- callers with heavy foreign accents were telling people they were IRS investigators, and browbeat people into telling them their SS#. My first thought was, "You're the IRS- Your whole existence is based on having our SS# from the day we are born. Why do you need it now?" And heavy foreign accents- really?

Why don't any of those guys call me? I'd love to mess with them. Give them a fake SS#, ask them to read it back, "Wait a minute, that's one digit off"- then read it back to them with 2 digits off, and so on until it gets just chaotic. "No, wait a minute, that was my credit card number- lets start over". You can string even the most dufisitous foreigner along for long enough to have some fun. . .

I got that call Sunday morning. Told me he was IRS and needed my banking information. Need it NOW and if I refused. The sheriff was standing buy to arrest me.

I told him the IRS doesn't work on Sunday.
The IRS already has that information.
The Sheriff and I were going fishing after church. So he could arrest me then.
This is my cell phone number. If you need to talk. Gave him the FBI number in Houston.

LOL ,i love to mess with calls like that. I make them believe im at my computer and what do they need me to do. They rattle off stuff. Then i just start lambasting there butts with profanity. Calling them names that even embarrasses me. I have had them screem Shut up the hang up LOL. Its so funny. Im telling ya folks you got to be smarter than ever these days. I mean common sence smart. If your not somebodys gonna unload your wallet.

Not sure what that means but what is really sickening is that there are that many stupid people who fall for this kind of nonsense.

The IRS is a criminal organization but they have a license to steal and so I do not understand why anyone would believe that they would need your cooperation to confiscate your assetts.

I am not gonna say stupid people...

My mom has as good a memory as anyone I know she knows its a tella marketer but answers the phone it has caller ID just to talk to someone... It drives me nuts listen to her preach to them... What scares me is sooner are later they may trick her...

There are allot of folks out there that know they owe the IRS and maybe are maybe not there day will come... That's what they are playing off of...

Same for my MIL, she's pretty sharp right now but starting to slip. She's a very nice lady and has some substantial investments and savings from her working days that she needs to live on, and the thought that some foreign creep could steal it from her makes my blood boil. She got a home security system from someone that called and I went off on her about it, luckily it was a legitimate company, but I told her to never, ever buy something from a cold call or give out any information over the phone. Call me first and we'll talk about it.

We got that call with a Hispanic sounding voice once every few days for a while. Then they stopped. Came home Tuesday and there were 7 voicemails from the same number in a span of 15 minutes.

I can't imagine in this day and age anyone falling for it, but as some said, there are elderly, gullible people out there. Problem is that these scammers have little to no risk of getting caught and the punishment is probably pretty small anyway.

We need to do what New Zealand did and lock up computer spammers and the like for years to send a message.

this is not about the IRS, but the other day I got a telemarketer call. the caller had a foreign accent, so I started talking in Pa.Dutch to him and he soon hung up.

I was working at a 9-1-1 center today and overheard one of the dispatchers taking a call about exactly that. I didn't realize that it was the problem that it has become. Clearly, its a problem. The kind of problem that if one actually catches the person that did it, one then introduces them to Jimmy Hoffa. I'm not joking.
