IH 384 Valve Lash Adjustment??

Hello all, I have a IH 384 with the BD-154 diesel engine in it and I was wondering if anyone would happen to know the valve lash adjustment procedure for that machine. I have searched high and low and can not find it, it is not even in my service manual. Any help would be great.

Thanks

From what I could find your firing order is 1-3-4-2. Take 1-3-4-2 and put it like this.
1-4
3-2.
These are called companion cylinder's and piston movement in cylinder is the same between the respective cylinders. If #1 is up so is #4 and if #3 is down so is #2. The difference is the the valves are opposites, if #4 exhaust valve is open #1 exhaust valve is closed.

Okay now the sequence for intake valves will be as followed:
Position #1 Intake Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #4 Intake Valve
Position #3 Intake Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #2 Intake Valve
Position #4 Intake Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #1 Intake Valve
Position #2 Intake Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #3 Intake Valve

Exhaust Valve Sequence:
Position #1 Exhaust Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #4 Exhaust Valve
Position #3 Exhaust Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #2 Exhaust Valve
Position #4 Exhaust Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #1 Exhaust Valve
Position #2 Exhaust Valve at Full Lift- Adjust #3 Exhaust Valve

About clear as mud, but hope it helps you.

Yea thats pretty confusing so you are saying from front to back the pistons fire in the order of 1342. The front cylinder fires first then the back then the second from front then the third from front..

Do i have that part right?

The front of the engine is always considered towards the radiator (on 99.9% of tractors). The cylinders are numbered from the radiator back 1-2-3-4. #1 being closest to the radiator and #4 being towards the transmission input shaft.

The motor fires the 1342 #1 cylinder first (closest to radiator), then the #3 (Second from last cylinder), then #4 (the further most cylinder), then #2 (Second from front cylinder).
