Awesome deal of the day.

Just looked at craigslist and saw an ad for a Farmall M. Checked it out. Its a Super MTA in work clothes and is dirt cheap. I mean cheap for an SMTA. Now its time to talk the fiancé into letting me get another tractor while we are trying to pay for a wedding and looking for a house. This ought to be good. Maybe I should be honest and tell the guy what he has. The good karma would be nice to have on my side.

My father-in-law collected antique dishes and antique furniture. If someone had an item and priced it 'way to low because they didn't know what they had, he'd inform them and insist on paying a fair price.

He was an interesting man. I don't think he ever bought anything one at a time. If he needed a can of oil or fuel additive, he bought a case. If he needed a pair of work gloves, he bought a bundle of 12 pairs. He bought engine oil and trans/hydraulic oil in 55 gallon drums.

After he passed away, it took me five years to use up all of his stuff.

You can never go wrong by being honest. He still might give you a great deal just because you were honest. Now the new bride to be might put the brakes on the deal but hey its a new wife they supposed to do stuff like that ... Congrats on both ,For the new bride to be and a possible new tractor.

Tractor was sold before I could make an offer. And the house is in my home town but thats about 2 hours and 15 minutes from my job and over 2 hours from my fiancés. I did manage to sell the house though so we will be using the money from that for either the wedding or a down payment on a house for us to settle down in.

You have to ask permission? If you are that afraid of her now what will it be like after you get hitched? Figure it out before it is too late.

There are way to many HEN PECKED out there already.

None of my business, but...

A wedding doesn't have to be expensive (although it's hard to convince a bride of that). I'd be worried about her wanting to throw a big party that's over in a few hours instead of having a down payment for a house.

I practice hard reality economics. If you don't have money enough to rent or buy a house and pay for a wedding, just rent or buy the house and scale the wedding back to the lowest cost possible.

My Dad always used to say: "A big fancy wedding doesn't make the marriage a dang bit better".

You will find that after the wedding, you will need money more than you ever imagined, so why spend it on the wedding itself?

That reminds me of a deal I found.
My diagnostic scanner had quit on me. I was looking for a replacement (used, of course). Looked on eBay, no joy. Last resort, I looked on Craig's List. Guy had one advertised for a price that fit my budget. Went to get it, and got a surprise: he had bought all of the expensive attachments for it. The value of the tool was way more than his asking price - so low that I had to question it. Finally, I asked him straight out if he really knew what he had and what it was worth. He assured me that he had done his research, and he knew what it was worth. I told him that I could not buy it unless I was sure that he knew what it was worth. He then quoted me what his checking had found, and he was about right. Then he told me that he had already gotten his money's worth from it, and wanted it to go to somebody that would use it and appreciate it. So, I paid him, thanked him, and have enjoyed it ever since.
