New lathes, shins and boards for this guy on the way.

Sure hope that 5488 will pull it. :>)

Shares is actually a fairly old word. The 1611 KJV Bible uses it. Maybe shares is for the older crowd rather than the younger :)

We did not have any plows like that in our area when I was a kid. I did see pictures of them, I just could not see what they were for. Packing all that steel in the air just did not compute.:)

That square tube is the hitch for pulling a packer if need be. The chain helps even up the drift from the pulling a packer by basically making it a two point hitch.

It's so they won't get lost. Out where Alan is, they start out in the morning, go east 7 miles, turn around and drop in the same furrow and follow it back to the house for lunch. Repeat after lunch. wink.wink

You have it backwards. Always west in AM and East in PM or the sun is in your eyes both ways, LOL.

Alan: How many acres on average do you get on a set of shares? We sold some Oliver roll over plows and those guys got a lot more acres on a set than what the people who owner regular plows did.

Yeah, because the bottoms are only working half the time.

Dunno, I measure 'em in "years". Run the silly things down until they are "nubs". :>)

Gonna run 'er across 170 acres this year if all goes according to plan, as the weeds are really getting out of hand.

Yep,

Gonna go check on that thing this morning. Had a bad planetary and trackin' down parts, the last I heard.

I'm sure it will pull it. The real question is how much weight will you need on the front of the tractor to hold it down. :) Paul

Ain't that the truth!

Got room for 2K lbs out front, but think 1K will do the trick.

Before I started this project, was thinking about asking my neighbor if he'd sell the eight bottom. I just don't like those silly dead furrows though.
