This is a tool that was given to me some years ago, and I have no idea what it was used for. It's made of copper or bronze. I would like to know what task it performs, even though I will probably never perform that task with it.

If I had to make a wild guess,I'd say it was for bending steel roofing or something. We used to have a pair of tin snips that looked like that except for those jaws.

Just a guess, would it be used for leatherworking or saddle making to grip leather and pull it taut?

I can think of several possible uses, but the fact that it is made of copper or bronze has me puzzled. I do know that neither copper or bronze will create a spark if dropped or struck, so that makes me think that maybe it was intended for use where a potential spark would be a very bad thing. Possibly military or in an oil refinery?

Since it's bronze or copper, I'm thinking it could be a heatsink for welding sheet metal, since it can't get welded accidentally to the work, or maybe a tool used aboard ship or a tool to be used in an explosive environment, since it wouldn't spark.

In Norway or Denmark, they bite the nuts of reindeer, quite a scene, maybe this tool is for the guys that are sick of biting reindeer nuts.

Hi, just a guess, maybe for a hot patch
on a tube. Brass to hold heat longer.
ed will. Oliver bc.

Copper has great heat conductivity, but not much heat capacity. Specific Heat is low, .1 compared to water at 1. This means it takes little heat to make it hot. I go with the idea of a sheet goods stretching tool. The handle would heat too fast if it was used on hot materials, ouch! Jim
