OT - Tractor/Video Youtube Rant!!!!

Not really a rant..... ;-)

When I watch a youtube video of a tractor doing chores, be it baling hay or plowing, it would be nice to just get the sweet sound of the tractor/machinery alone!

What I don't want to hear is some song blaring away, or the sound of a golf cart or 4 wheeler's motor covering up the tractor/machinery's sound while following the tractor.

To me - the sound of the tractor laboring and or the baler, etc working hard adds very much to the video.

I also don't want to hear some a bunch of guys talking or trying to narrate!

I'd like some of the camera persons to just hold still - LOL! And if at all possible, focus the attention on the tractor/machinery - not some dog walking across the field, or something else.

Watching an old IH diesel (or another fine piece of old iron) working hard IMHO just sounds GREAT - nothing else needed!

What drives you nuts with these youtube farming videos.

Btw - talk is cheap. I'll be posting some videos this Summer of me a mid the boys making some hay. Hopefully I'll get it right!

How do you like the plowing or chopping pictures that just show you a picture of the muffler on the front of the tractor and the ground going by. I'm with you.

Bill, You might enjoy this if you haven't seen/heard it before.

A little music in the background sometimes can be a good thing but I agree that there are some videos I just have to turn the sound off. Too loud or not my choice of music. I have mostly kept mine music free so you can just hear the machinery or my voice .

I watched one the other night where there were so many golf carts and four wheelers that you could not tell what was actually being demonstrated. I gave up after about 2 minutes.

Hey, I bought a new discbine and the sound it made when you brought it up to speed was AC/DC "Back in Black" - exactly. I thought that was the normal sound it was supposed to make. Until it imploded on the first field...

Usually people who make the videos with a music background don't have enough experience about the subject equipment they're using to know that the sound it makes is a large part of the character of the equipment. If it's not running there is no sound, right? I don't personally mind the music too much unless it's some of that modern hip-hop racket or some other dope addict influenced stuff. Bare in mind this is all amateur production stuff and the price to see it is pretty reasonable.

It is a great little action camera in a sealed plastic case. Water proof although I haven't tested that feature yet. No worries about a bit of snow or dust hitting it. I've run it in a rainstorm on the rack of my trike with no worries about water getting in. Takes a nice still photo too.

You could always check out my YouTube channel - most of my videos that include equipment are solely based on just that... Equipment. I've got a few videos that include music - but these are for the most part slideshows and would leave the viewer very unstimulated without anything to listen to.
