Selling farm equipment

Hello, I'm completely new to this forum and have a couple of questions. I have an old McCormack threshing machine that has been sitting outdoors for about it's entire life and a 1941 (maybe) Farmall M tractor that has a just completed 90% complete restoration of the motor. The tractor itself is in horrible condition. I live in Michigan and really don't want to haul either of these items anywhere. Any thoughts on what they might be worth and where/how to sell them. My father put $1100 in to restoring the Farmall engine but passed away two weeks ago and none of the family really wants anything to do with restoring the rest of the tractor.

Thanks

Advertise them on Classified Ads. I would also get a price from several metal scrap yards. Hal

Hal,
I'm assuming you are not talking about the classified ads in the local newspaper. Are you talking about classifieds on this website?

Also interested in the M. Give us a general idea where you are located. It makes a difference in terms of practicality. For example, I am not likely to drive to the UP for an M but someone in Wisconsin might. I am in the Brighton/Howell area.

Craigslist.

Or here on this website.

An M in bad shape will go $500-800. If the engine runs then
$1200. If the engine was well restored maybe more. If the tires
are in great shape with a renewed engine maybe $2000.

They are good tractors, a dime a dozen, folks like to work on
them, assume they are well worn and buy them for about what
your dad put into it so far. That is the typical story on these
deals.

The thrasher, I donno. Sounds like not much over scrap iron?

Where are you at in Michigan? Makes a big difference. That thresher is probably only good for parts but people are looking for parts as there are still a lot in use by the Amish. And there is in a couple of weeks a big Amish consignment sale in In non far from Mi if you could get it there, Don't scrap right off. Could you email me pictures. I deal with the Amish with machinery.

The equipment is all in Lawton, MI which is 15-20 miles west of Kalamazoo. The threshing machine is actually in remarkably good condition considering it's been sitting outside for so long. The M is in VERY bad shape even though it's been inside for the last 10 years or so but the engine was overhauled by a certified car mechanic and an ex-military mechanic. It was not completed so there is no way to know if it runs but it looks good and I trust that it was built as well as it could be by non-tractor mechanics.

If someone can tell me how to post pictures I can post pictures on here.

Leroy,
Where is the consignment sale and exactly how do I get authorized to sell an item there.

The other problem is that the location of the thresher with all of the snow, might be difficult to get at right now.

Larry

The sale isTopeka Livestalk Auction located at PO Box 279, 601 E. Lake St, Topeka Indiana. It is a 4 day total sale with the machinery on tuesday March 18 and horses Wed, thurs & fri. Phone 260-593-2522 Fax 260-593-2258 Email [email protected] and I do not have the complete web address but Topeka Livestalk Auction should get there. Took a couple of Amish up a couple of years ago and came back with a full trailer of machinery. If things goes good plan on taking a couple of Amish machinery dealers from the Berne, In. area up to look for machinery to resell in their area. When I was up it was crouded and beards every where. Just give them a phone call. Most all machinery is usuable with horses or was when I was there.

This is mostly a test, but if this works, this is what the threshing machine looks like.

I will get tractor pics up as soon as I get photos of the engine. If the moderator of this forum reads these messages, I guess it would be appropriate to move this post to a classified section. If I can do that, let me know and i will
