Help my 1980 Power Steering Pump is locking up with fluid in it, turns freely with no fluid. I can't find another pump. Tractor is dead with no steering...help!

Yesterday's Tractor is a Sparex distributor. They carry DB parts. Here's a link to a pdf of the catalog. If you don't see it in the catalog, call them, they can probably get one anyway.

K944379, There is no aftermarket or OEM source of that pump in this country that I have found(last from Case was $1300). Might still be some in the UK. I might have a used one.

All the 3 cylinder DBs use a belt drive pump. Be cautious A&I advertises that they have a pump for the 885, but it is the more common 990 on up gear drive pump, just a matter that someone there didn't check their numbers/cross references.

I have successfully used the PS pump from a 98 Ford Escort. You have to adapt the pulley, make some brackets, and modify the hoses. If you have a lathe and drill press it takes a couple hours or less. The Ford pump is a $20 junkyard item, and is a nice cast iron pump.

If that doesn't get you one,try David Brown Parts Ltd online. They're in England, but if anybody has the part, they will. I needed some parts for an old 850 and they had them.

I don't have the one I did here in front of me(in a barn a mile away with 4' of snow and ice in front of the door). But if memory serves, one line is the pressure line going to the orbitrol valve(can make a hydraulic line for this one), The other goes to the suction line on the bottom of the reservoir(rubber hose with clamps).
