He took me to get my fishing license ,Weds,it was cold,I said,Im not sure about this,,he says,,your not spending the day on the computer,it wont be that cold, and lots of good food, lots of things to see,,So,,off we go to Harveys Lake ,near a town called Dallas Pa..near Willkes Bare?

Thanks for coming along on the ice fishing trip,,it was lots of fun, lots of good food ,lots of great things to see,,my friend didnt lie,,,,except,,,it was cold!!!

That is some good pictures.
Years ago I traveled in Minnesoda, and in the winter the lakes looked as if there were a small village of all kinds of huts.
One year they had a mid winter thaw and most of the shacks got half buried in the ice and couldn't be retrieved.
That wasn't as bad as one couple, they caught a 50 pound block of ice, and when his wife tried to fry it she drowned.

Thanks for posting Larry. Looks like it was a fun day! I have been fighting the results of an ice storm this past week. I have used a chain saw every day this week removing downed timber. I envy a nice day like you had.lol I am so sore this morning I can hardly wiggle. I always look forward to your pictures.

Beautiful pics! Hope you guys fried up some fresh
fish!

I'd never ice fish - hate when the ice creaks.
But enjoy summer time fishing IF actually catching
something.

I dunno on the house...
Can only guess based on my preference.

1. The dark blue/grey with a wrap around porch and
the widow's walk on the boat house?

2.The green A-frame with a big stone chimney and
the double decker porch/balcony.

3. The great big light grey one with double porch
all around... big white pillars and the white
criss-cross cover from porch to ground.

Thank you Larry. Now I want to get out the folding ice shack. Been stored for so many years the mice probably have holes chewed in it. I don't have much of an 'internal' heater so sitting outside in the cold doesn't appeal to me.

The last time I went ice fishing I took dad along. He never was much of a fisherman and has a fear of water. We drove out on the lake a quarter mile or so and while we drove he had his hand on the door handle the whole time. Then we set up the shack and started fishing but the action was slow. Around noon the sun came out and warmed the ice making it groan and creak and crack and that was enough for dad. The sound was magnified inside the shack and he was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof so we went home.

Do all the fish leave the lake after the spring
thaw? If not, to heck with all that! Very nice
pix.

I think it's to cold when the dog bowl has a skim of
ice on it. Houses built over the water is neat around
here they won't let you do that. Back in the Mid 80s a
large beach house survived after the beach eroded away
leaving it out in the ocean at high tide. Someone
bought it and made a restaurant out of it. They called
it "The Atlantic House" it was Quite successful until
Hugo came along. Then it was just several pilings in
the surf.

Larry, you ought to see the knuckleheads ice fishing
in the river at Delaware Water Gap. Right at the
point of the Gap. Been there for weeks, sometimes
overnight. Tis said to be seventy to eighty feet
deep right there.

WOW ! great pics Lar and nice catch ! it must be
beautifull there in the summer months -- very
wealthy looking area .

Larry -- ont.

Gee Larry, you were in my back yard, almost.
I live about 7 miles from the lake. My sister in law lives at the lake about 1/8 mile from the boat launch.
If you ever come up again let me know.

No I don't. My sister in law does. I don't boat swim or fish, although my other sister in law has a party boat that I go out on.
The problem with Harvey's Lake is that the only access is from the Fish Commission boat launch, unless you own property and have your own dock.
The lake is the largest natural lake (by volume) in PA.

Really nice pics. I'm not sure I could walk out on ice. This southern boy would not know whether to feel like Jesus walking on the water or be nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory.
