Hardest restoration....

What American made tractor being in, let's say in fair none running condition, would be the most tuff to restore from the ground up as far as finding OEM parts (gauges, lights, etc.) and fenders, rims, engine rebuild kits, etc. Just was talking with my son and thought I would ask you guys. Thanks

I'd have to say a mm udlx, I'd think parts are very scarce with 125 made and with people having parts for a udlx there gonna think there worth gold. But you will have a tractor that's worth a lot of money when done

Before the beginning of WWII (1939) one of my uncles bought a new Avery Ro-Trak at the factory in Peoria, IL. He kept it less than 2 years, it was the only one of its kind I ever saw or heard of in use in this area. A collector near by Saline, MI has one, it might be the one my uncle had for all I or the present owner knows. I understand Ed Spiess had one (where it went after his death and sale I don't know) and there's one in Maryland or Virginia I've heard. About 20 years ago one sold at a sale in Galt, California....to a foreign buyer I believe. Anyhow even though these tractors had Hercules engines and Chrysler drive line parts they had a lot of pure Avery designed and made parts and I'd guess they would be hard to find...or any drawings or anything to help to reproduce them. (I wanted but couldn't afford the one sold in California)

Probably not the toughest, but the Schramm Pneumatractors
and the Centaurs are not real easy to get parts for either.

Well if you want to get ridiculous, how about the John Deere Dain from 1917? Only 100 were produced, and only one complete tractor is known to exist today. It was a three wheel, four cylinder all wheel drive tractor that predates John Deere purchasing the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company. When that happened, Deere quit producing the Dain and started selling the Waterloo Boy and then the Model D. Good luck finding enough parts to put another Dain together!

This fellow "restored" a Holt steam crawler starting only with the crankshaft:
