Update on polishing Chrome

The polishes that I tried wouldn't touch the stuff on my chrome but the wet aluminum foil and OOO steel wool both worked great.

Old trick to keep chrome shiny once clean is drying down with newsprint. I learned it from an old school bodyman.

I used turtle wax and a mini power ball need to
remove the air lines to finish

Purple Polish from California Kustoms. It's
available at High end truck stops and Kenworth and
Peterbuilt dealers. Thousands of Chicken truckers
can't be wrong.

Interesting but does the steel wool not scratch the
chrome surface? I need to try it out. The rear
bumper chrome on my 52 Merc is pretty bad, probably
from exhaust pipe damage.

I couldn't see any scratches with the steel wool.

I first use warm soapy water and an s.o.s pad lightly, then use dry ooo or oooo steel wool. When finished I put a coat of wax or chrome polish on it.
