Global Warming! I sure hope so. My nose is froze.
My ears are numb. Can't feel my fingers! I am sick of this! I'm going to start praying for global warming. Global cooling? No thanks.

When Drew Carey was a young comedian and "global warming" was in its infancy, in his act he acted like h was shaking an aerosol can and just spraying it up into the air at the ozone and said something like, "The heck with future generations, I'm cold now". Was pretty funny.

It's midnight now where I'm located and temp is -12 and supposed to get 20 or so Saturday and around 30 Sunday. Looks like that gonna be our thaw for this month as headed back into single digits Monday for the week.

Global warming is out, it now climate change. 6 ft of snow in the east and extremely dry in the west. 4 years in California.

Winter went around me until Feb. Finally got snow and record lows.

If you don't like the weather today, just wait, bet it will change tomorrow. Gee Climate Changes.

Actually, we are now in the decreasing portion of the solar cycle. Check out Nasa Space Weather. It will begin to get colder for next 8 years or so. Stay warm.

My wife teaches solar weather for NASA. Indeed the sun does (frequently) change. The effects that this has on the earth is amazing. From minor communications glitches, to full on weather changes, the activity on the sun can be both predicted and measured.

Check it out!

Looks neat, above my pay grade. I always thought solar activity could change things on earth, just had no idea someone was actually monitoring solar activity.

no. The solar sunspot cycle. The sun has cycles. Read up on them. They affect earth in many ways, daily. Go to Nasa Space Weather. It is full of info.

unfortunately, few of the public realizes how complicated things are. The notion that the earth is warming because of CO2 levels is so simplistic as to be laughable. Even if true, it just ignores all other aspects. Unfortunately, an uneducated public is easy to manipulate. Not trying to open up the 'warming' debate. Go to the website, read some of. We live on an interactive planet in an interactive universe.

(quoted from post at 13:11:58 02/22/15) It should come as no surprise to anyone that cooking up bogus climate change theories can be incredibly lucrative.
1.2 million to make stuff up

Corporations paying someone to lie. I wonder what other lies get paid for by them? Lowering tax rates for corporations creates jobs? Who can you trust these days?

One guy and he got a little over a mill? What a piker! Look att he "green side" and see how much manipulation is going on there and how much money is in play. The whole issue is about control and power...power we can't even begin to imagine.

I knew we were in a period of decreased solar activity but wasn't sure how far in.
Think about it. The sun can warm us from the low 50s into the hundreds in a few hours. Why wouldn't solar activity have an effect on weather patterns and average temperatures? It's what drives the weather. No sun no weather. Earth would (relatively) quickly become a cold dead rock floating through space without the energy from the sun.
The only reason we have hydrocarbons for fuel is that some plant used solar energy to grow. Oil is little more than a battery for the storage of solar energy.
Solar activity even affects radio communications. Increased solar activity energizes the ionosphere, when it's energized it reflects radio waves back down to earth, allowing for "skip", which allows a regular old cb radio to talk to another one across a continent or on the other side of an ocean.

Got any examples, Bret? One thing is for certain: The Kochs pay a lot better than civil service wages. Why don't all those GS-13s in NOAA and NASA simply jump ship and go over to the dark side? Is it possible that personal integrity still means something?

Look into it yourself Mark. NOAA got caught manipulating weather records and had to go back and change things last year. The famed "hockey stick" graph was proved to be a hoax, there have been quite a lot of stories about manipulated statistics in the news lately. As far as the money, you can start with Al Gore, follow up with the myriad of Solydra boondoggles and look to the future and what kind of money and power the people owning whatever systems we end up with and the gov'ts that control it all will have.

One of the things that amaze me is otherwise smart people who assign altruistic qualities to anyone on the left but can't seem to grasp that they are the same people as on the right when you come down to it. The Kochs, the Kochs, the Kochs! You bring them up constantly but ignore that your side has lots of big names with big money investing in oil. Think Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. The Kochs are evil incarnate, but guys like Geroge Soros (Mr. Hitler Youth) are held up as lily white. You need to step back and look at the big picture.

Yes, if Young George Soros had just jumped on that train to Auschwitz like he was supposed to, he wouldn't have grown up to become a pesky billionaire philanthropist. Really? You're going to fault a teenage boy for doing whatever he had to do to save his own life? If I was in that situation my only question would be "how high do I need to goose-step?". And you would do the same, Bret.

When it comes to scientists, I'm not so much interested in their altruism as in the credibility of their research. Sorry, but nothing you bring up seriously impugns the credibility of mainstream climate science. And pretty much the only dissenting voices are paid hacks like the less-than-estimable Doctor Soon.

Believe it or not, I don't think the Koch brothers are evil incarnate. After all, there can be only one Dick Cheney.

Global warming, har-de-har-har... The temperature drops below 35 and a few flakes of snow fall, then the tired old global warming rhetoric comes out of the woodwork.

You guys do realize it's 20 degrees in NOME, ALASKA right now (4AM February 24th) don't you? They're forecast to hit 33 today.

Soros referred to his days with the Nazis as "the high point of my young life" in one statement. That doesn't sound like he has much sorrow over it.

There are lots of scientists that don't walk in lock step with the man made climate change crowd Mark. That report that there was a 90% "consensus"? Completely made up. It was more like 3%. Look into it yourself. The largest majority of scientists said climate change was most likely natural. That doesn't sell the agenda though, so it's not reported.
