Here in west Michigan, I saw -10 degrees, and that is right along the lakeshore.
Any fruit growers anticipate damage to their trees this years?

-26 in East Kentucky. That temp was took at the Kentucky Mesonet site about 2 miles from my house and was the second coldest reading in the state. It's a little chilly here this morning...

0 at 6 am. High yesterday 16. Going to 20 today. Tomorrow snow then changing to sleet and freezing rain. Sunday changing to rain. Gonna warm up some then.I'm about 40 miles north of the Va/NC. state line. Central Va.

In this area the avg. high for Feb. is 50. So it's a little cooler than normal. Glad I had plenty of firewood under the shed.

52 here in the desert. I'm staying indoors until the sun comes up and it warms up a bit.

I was checking EnviroWeather website this morning. At 08:00 hrs, it was -15.9 degrees in Lansing. I'm sure there will be widespread damage to the fruit crops this year.

We have been down to -10 and beyond several times, it was -5 before sun up today, but what is strange is that its 9am and its -2, usually the sun will warm things up considerably by now, its overcast, and there is still a wind. 2 days ago we had 2 days of 30 deg F sunny and calm, ideal for working outside, don't mind those days at all, then this showed up yesterday, long snow squalls and 30-40 mph winds, cuts right through ya. It will pass, but would be nice to have that cool air push the humid and tropical air out to sea during the summer, I like the weather pattern with these cold fronts, mostly in the summer !

Here in the valley of no sun in NW Pa. It was -27° at my house, -29° at the barn all the water is froze in the young stock barn.. Dairy side is OK. Titusville say's -21° Here in Guys Mills -22° wind chill est. is -40°. Bradford it's -32°.. Tomorrow & Sunday 30° above, can't wait!!!!

RMinVA,

Saw your post, Our temps were just like yours. That must mean that you are pretty close? I am located in Chesterfield County, the southern end near Lake Chesden.

The official low last night was -25 here in the Brighton-Howell area. A balmy -15 at 8 AM this morning. I have lived here over 50 years and cannot recall temps like this in February. Not sure it will affect the fruit unless it warms and the buds swell and then the cold returns...but I only have two trees so not an expert.

Lot of tax returns dropped off this week. I will be happy to sit here in the office and do my job. One of the few times of the year I prefer to ride a desk instead of a tractor.

Here in SW Ohio we broke a 130 year old record low with -11* overnight. I dont know but mine says -15* @ 9.20 am this morning all I know is its COLD! Bandit

31 here at 4:30 am, yesterday was 52,,, tomorrow -2, snowing now gotta Love Wyoming

Yea, I think we broke over a 100 year record too. Yesterday's high temp broke records, as well as the low temps overnight...

So East Indiana had -11 last night. Radio says broke low temp record over 100 yr old. Weather folks had a name for it -- The Siberian Express.

... It was so cold that the chickens have lined up outside of kfc, awaiting their turn for the deep fryer...
, but seriously here in central ohio it was -11. Its +4 out now at 9:35 am, no wind and almost doesnt feel too bad. Think i will stay indoors today though.

-18 last night, same as night before. I see rrlund hasn't been on yet, hope he didn't freeze down in his neck of Montcalm Co.

About 80 miles south of St Louis, last night was not too bad for us, 12 degrees, but Wednesday night was -12. You know it has been bad when you see 15 degrees on the thermometer and think that looks pretty good.

Sourgum, where in SE IN? Here in SW corner of Dearborn County our 3 thermometers read -17,-18 & -21. (Down in the Laughery valley.)

8 am ,-8, here on the knobs of southern ind ,,. 24 hours from now ,,,,. its supposed to br thunderboomin , and freezing rain ..ggotdamthatz hard on thecows animules and the woodpile

Wow, that's cold!
I was on the highway in west Michigan yesterday evening around supper time, and it was icy, especially the bridges. Traffic was 30-40 mph at best. It was scary.

It was a rough one,I'll tell you that. The wife said -18 on her truck thermometer here too. The valve in the waterer across the road was froze again, like yesterday. Second time ever now.
The 1365 didn't want to start. Only the third time ever for that. The cows chewed up the cord on the block heater this spring. I found another one and put it on but it didn't work. I put the battery charger on it for about half an hour and that did it,it started.
The 1600 started alright, but after I dropped a bale in across the road, when I got back on from shutting the gate, the oil light came on,so I hustled that in to the barn. It's been a real picnic.

- 20.8 at 5:00 am in Montcalm county about 25 miles north of rrlund. He's probably out fighting something frozen! Hovering around zero here mid morning.

Nice warm 28 degrees here right now. Yesterday morning it got down to around -5 degrees. We have mist right now so we are in for a bit of freezing rain today

Don't doubt that one bit. This is over by Holton. The valley's will have 5 to 8 degree colder air temps than the upland flats.

Northern Ill. -10 at 10 last night, +8 at 10:30 am. Must be warmer than last winter, heard on the radio there's 8 or 9 inches less ice on the Mississippi this year.

Here in northern Michigan "tip of the mitt" is was 30 below F last night and 26 below F at 8 am this morning. That's the real temp. Not some make-believe "wind chill" factor.

All I can say is it's one good winter to be "retired" ! When I have carbs to re-build I can heat shop long enough to blast/ drill out/paint and do the assembly in house on table. Everything else can wait 'til it's over 40°. I remember the days back on the farm, especially when we had cattle. NOOO thanks now-a days. I commend you guys still having to do it

I didn't say "made up." I said "make believe" in the context of stating temperatures. To me, there is subtle difference. Temperature is - temperature. Nothing more, nothing less. Wind-chill temp is not temp at all. It's just a calculation how you might "feel" when the wind speeds up heat-loss on animate objects that can "feel" the difference.

10 miles south of Ithaca, MI, I had -24 degrees when I got up to go to work and found that my well had frozen. 3 hrs later, it was back on line.
