This disc has been sitting hfere since the late 70's. It's brand new never sold. I think this was a White dealer that went out of business, it was a dealer ship of some sort anyway. He had 2 of these, they both Sat there for years, then he sold one in the 90's. This one still sits here. I tried to buy one in the mid 90's but he wanted full retail yet then, and you could buy other brands new for less. He's had at least 2 auctions here and refused to sell them for the bid they got. I'm surprised to see the tires still up, but they are badly cracked.

I worked for a farm that had traded in a gleaner combine to a dealer it was a nice lookin machine sat there for ten years when I last worked there and it's probly still there . I tried to buy it but the farm wouldn't sell it .

I can show you several pieces of equipment that are the same type of thing.

I know where there is a NEW JD 7200 four row corn planter. It is a wide row rigid frame planter. The dealer ordered it for stock in 1995. They also ordered a conservation model too. That they finally sold as you could slide the units and make it narrow row. The rigid frame one was invoiced at $12500. A few years ago I offered them $10,000 for it. They would not think of anything less than $17,500 for it. Told me JD did not make those anymore so it is worth more money. LOL Well it will have twenty years of lot rot this spring. It is not worth much more than $5-6K now as a wide row.

I know where there are two 400 bushel grain carts that are brand new stored inside. The dealer ordered them in 1990. They are Brent carts. The company had a multi unit discount so the dealer bought four. They sold two. They have set on the other two since then. There is not much market for a high priced 400 bushel grain cart with the newer combines.

I also saw a "NEW" White 5x16 two mounted plow at a dealership in Ohio. They set there for over 25 years. I offered to buy them twice as I would have used the bottoms to rebuild some regular plows. They got $2000 for scrap out of them 3 years ago. They where dealer invoiced for $5200 in 1982. Figure out the time value on what that money would be worth in today's money.

This usually happens when the dealerships are owned by rich old men that do not realize the equipment market changes all of the time and some times you take losses. The usage of equipment changes and some equipment losses value or maybe worth nothing in the local market over scrap price.

I know a fool like this in South Jersey. Tractor dealer is the only one in the area for Kubota. He handles some Gravely parts too. He got some trade in stuff and one item was a pretty nice front mount tiller/cultivator bar set for like a model "L". I asked about it and he said a price that would have bought almost a new space shuttle!!! I looked at him and said "one hundred for a set of cultivators?" YUP Then he said "how much do you think they are worth". I countered with $50.oo He counters with HALF way and $75.oo. I left. Instead of cutting a bit of a deal on something I bet he got for MAYYYYBE $20.oo on a trade in. NOPE he had it sit in the back of the lot for six months and then scraped it! What an A$$!!! He has been doing this for years. Most everyone I know in the area can"t wait till he drops over! Gets me all upset again.

Pete I am glad you said that. I have Was Taylor Way,s largest dealer for many years and soon as I saw it I thought Taylor-Way but saw the other decal. I know without hydraulic fold man would never like it. They were tough disk

Yes it is in Foley. I remember when the case dealer was where the church is, but didn't remember it was case in foley, just remebered a dealer of some sort in that building.

Had a Allis dealer here that was that way also. He had quite a few gems that did make it to the collector market. Allis Mini Bike new in crate etc.

Don't know what happened to it but he also had a 4 row black cornhead that was never set up. number of years after the huggers came out.

After I read this I was thinking about it and you are right. The first time I saw them was at the case dealer when he was still in the old building on the south side of 95. The first auction I saw them at was there, but I don't remember if it was his or one of the Blanks consignment sales. The next I saw of them was right where it is sitting now at another sale. Was this where the Jd dealer was?

It's very poor business practice to let your money sit on the lot instead of getting some or most of your cost back and putting it in to something that will make some money. I was this when we were in the antiques biz, some dealers carried the same tired stock around to shows. Most if it is now worth less on a retail basis than they paid for it back in the day. You have to keep you eye on the market, not only values but demand for certain items. When your stock is falling out of favor, get rid of it.
