What is the current price for unprepared scrap iron
in your area? Any Idea what future months prices
will be?

Not worth talking about. 50-80 bucks a ton.

$80 ton unprepared here. Not worth the fuel to haul it in. Scrap prices are an indicator of the US and world economy. Things are not as rosy as a certain politician in a white house would like us to think. Good thing tho is now there is a chance to buy older equipment at auctions as the scrap dealers make no money at these prices.

NE Missouri,75.00 a ton. It went down 100.00 last week. The yard owner told me late last fall it was going down the first of 2015,he was right.

Exactly-MN Scott. Many commodity prices including copper and other metals have dropped sharply over the last 6 months. China and Japan economies are in rough shape and there is no longer the demand due to new construction and manufacturing in these countries. This situation may be with us for a good while.

I took in three barrels of copper pipe, one barrel of brass, and the remainder of the pickup bed was filled with AC compressor coils last Friday. The man there told me that scrap oil prices were down 30% in the past three weeks.
Before everybody jumps on me and tells me that "you should have kept it", it was for another guy and he didn't care what the prices were.
Too bad.

Saw in the paper last night that the local scrap buyer is closing down- selling everything out, "retirement sale".

Swell. Now I guess I'll be lucky if I can give my little pile away.
