I would like to know the number of the PerTronix ignition unit for the above tractor. I think it is a PerTronix 1244A. Contacted out host and talked to a tech at PerTronix.
Need the distributor number. Tractor is a 100 miles away from where I live.
Does anyone know the model of the correct PerTronix unit

I wonder if there is a reason to need the distributor #.... according to their catalog, 1244A fits side-mount 8N, as well as series 500 thru 900.

I would THINK the most important thing would be getting battery voltage and "ground" correct.

Footnotes:

#55 Ignitor version available in 6V negative ground, add N6 suffix

#56 Ignitor version available in 6V positive ground, add P6 suffix

#57 Ignitor version available in 12V positive ground, add P12 suffix

#79 Not for use with solid core spark plug wires

(The way I read it, just ordering the basic 1244A will get you a 12 Volt (-) ground unit.)
Link to catalog in .pdf format.

Bob,
Thank you. I changed the electrical system on my friends tractor To 12 volt neg. grd. Several years ago.our host told me that most older ford tractors had Fo Mo Co distributors
Called friend and ask him to check the distributor My place is close to his. The ford 8n side distributor and our jubilee both have 12 volt n g. Grd. Systems with pertronix units
