Garry, I saw you got the answer right about Dub Taylor playing C W Moss's dad in Bonnie and Clyde. What role did Dub's real son play on a TV western? I also think Dub was a great actor. And who did he marry as a circuit preacher on Andy Griffith?

Buck Taylor,,,was the guy who had a gun shop on Gunsmoke,and sometimes was the deptuty,,also was a learning doctor in some of the episodes,,,Newly?
 
Larry was up early! Yes, Buck Taylor played Newly and was son of Dub Taylor. I had forgotten that he had a gun shop.

Dub played a preacher on Andy Griffith who married Charlene Darling and Dud Wash, I think. I believe that they had to do it in a hurry because Ernest T. Bass was wanting Charlene.

I have always wondered what kind of living those great character actors made. I guess they did okay if they stayed fairly busy.

Andy Griffith said that Ernest T. Bass was such powerful character that they realized that he could only be used sparingly. He and the writers knew what they were doing. I don't think they ever thought that the show would be as popular as it has been, even 55 years later.
