Been making some bird houses for family & friends. Used some old barn wood & roof tin on some of them decorated them up with this & that.

Monday before last I had 24 ETS 130 Intro to Woods class build bird houses from a set of my plans. Very simple, used table saws and chop saws. Though easy, it proved several vital learning experiences, like follow directions, nail straight, and measure carefully. Nice work, Jim

No self respecting bird would pass those up! On the second house, is that a drawer pull or fence insulator used for the perch?

Small part of my great grandparents old barn was just to far gone to save as it was. I did carefully take it apart and store it though. Been making cabinets, siding small yard shed and scrap pieces used for the bird houses. It has allot of character but is very fragile to work with. Still has allot of pine resin in some of the boards. Mostly square nails & some of the hardest, full dimension 2X4's I've ever seen. Going to take care of the rest of the barn and hopefully it'll last a couple more generations. Thank you for the nice comments. Cannon

Now that you mention it, yeah it would! In that picture, the man on the right is my great grandpa, he built the barn the wood came from. One in the middle is his dad, my great-great. He lived across the road where our daughter lives now.

Good looking homes and nice way to use something of family's history.

The FIL used to make bluebird boxes and had them up from upstate NY to SC where he had another property. Was told once a year would take a wks vaca to check and clean them out.
I'm thinking was to get away from wife and 5 kids for a week LOL
