I'm looking to put new tires on my super 77 Oliver... What do you guys thing are the best, cheapest, tires out there... Looking at BKTs as I had them on a 4020 but not sure how they would do in a tractor pull? Anybody ever pulled with them? I just want a decent overall tire. Size is 13-6 38 if that matters.

Thanks

Firestone super all traction! Radials but I don't
know how small they make them! Buy cheap now and pay
on replacing them soon! Spend the money by the good
tire! But that's my opinion! I hope firestone never
quits making the radial all traction tire!

I just put a set of Firestone 23 degrees on my 806
and they seem to be a good tire. But I doubt I'd
spend that kind of money on an old Oliver. Wait,
that didn't sound good. I would be hesitant to
spend money for premium tires for a hobby tractor.

For what you are looking to do, BKT might be a
good choice. I have not had much luck with
Firestone lately if you do a lot of road travel.

It seems Firestone's lugs seem to melt off. I've
switched to Michelin and BKT for lesser stuff.

Good luck, none of them are cheap.

I will second that. Have Firestone on my jd 5520,and they haven't held up. I think I will look at galaxy, titan, ect when I replace them. I definitely will not buy firestones.

I just bought a set of Akuret 13.6×38 tires and
tubes from NTS Tire Supply Redwood Falls Minnesota.
They were take offs from JD sprayers. They are just
like brand new. 315 each plus freight. I guess they
have a bunch of them. Sorry I can't find the phone
number.

hands down Firestone, Traction Field and Road if their still made, not FIELD AND ROAD--- two different tires. Super all Traction Field and Road are a bias tire with the radial tread put on them, also good.

I put a set of Titan 12.4x38s on my H just a couple of years ago. Yes, those tires cost more than what the H is potentially worth, but the H was worth nothing if it couldn't be used.

Put a set of the Akuret 13.6x38 on my M several years ago. That was before the prices went crazy. Again, the M was not useable with the bald, rotten, Uniroyals that were on it.

So far, I am more than happy with both brands.

I bought a set of Farm King tires for my JD B in 2009. They are 11.2x38 and cost me about 190 each. Best tires for my use of parades and light work. They are labeled as irrigation tires but work and wear very well.

If you want an economy line tire than the BKt you're looking at or some of the various Galaxy tires will more than suffice. Galaxy, in my opinion is about the best lasting cheap tire there is out there today.
If you want a long lasting hard pulling tire on dry surfaces then it's hard to beat a Firestone Radial All Traction 23 degree. Their only real faults is that it's hard to get the radial lope under control at speed on the road and they do tend to peel on hot days if you're on asphalt...
If you want a hard wearing tire on asphalt that is also good in wet ground conditions... then a Michelin AgriBib is the one to beat. Downside is that they are useless on hard surfaces because the lugs flex so much. And both the Michelin and the 23 degree Friestone Radial are worth more than your Oliver to buy a set of them..

I really like the firestone all traction 23 degree tires.I have a set on a 4020 that are getting wore down I also have a set of the 23 degree radials on a 4230 that are great as well but not sure if worth the extra money they cost on that size tractor unless you are doing lots of tillage. Tom

I just hope all of you that think the 23* Firestone tires are so good you have better luck than I did with them. Worst tire I ever owned and Firestone would do nothing even tho it was a design problem. Very poor traction the old style 45* would pull twice, equall to one size larger in other makes, carcass busted between every lug, and very poor wear, one side of tire tread like new, none left on other side, all wore away. If somebody dumped a brand new set on my property and could not find who did it to make them remove them then I would have to pay the scrap tire hauller to take them away as I would not GIVE them to somebody to use.

Some of us don't have to ~think~ Firestone radials are good. We ~know~ they're good. There really isn't much debate about it.
The only thing I can condemn the 23 degree radial for is that it's a dry land tire and it won't pull in mud. Likewise the 45 degree tire that will pull in mud won't do a damn thing in dry land conditions...

I've had very good luck with all Firestone tires. Can't say the
same for good years, Armstrong, or Titan. They seem to crack
and then blow the sidewalls.

The set on my 4020 are eighteen years old and really worn down but the casing is still perfect with no cracks or breaks. I do not use fluid just four pair of wheel weights. I will buy another set of Firestone All Traction 23 degrees.
