Any Stan or Garnet Roger fans?

I've long been a fan of late Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers. This weekend my wife and I saw his brother Garnet perform, and we were impressed. He's a great singer and an even greater guitarist.

One song that blew me away is "Our Boy", which you can listen to at the link below. After all the lame Nashville efforts to honor our servicemembers, it's refreshing to hear a Canuck show how it's done. He played most of the instruments on the track in addition to singing the vocal.

To listen to the song, you need to hit the green arrow on the player to select the second track. The lyrics and backstory are further down the page.
Garnet Rogers

Yes, I've enjoyed Stan's music for many years, Garnet's no slouch either. A few years back a one-hour documentary titled One Warm Line was made about Stan and Garnet, featuring footage of their best-known songs. I've always thought of Stan Rogers as kind of an east-coast version of Ian Tyson, another well-known folk/country singer out here in western Canada.

Haven't heard his music before, but sounds good!

It's a real shame, all the great talent out there that gets little recognition, while the super-hyped pop-rock-rap garbage out of Nashville gets pawned off as country!!!

Garnet sounds a lot like Tom Russell and Dave Alvin, you can check them out on YouTube.

Speaking of Canadian folk singers, don't forget Fred Eaglesmith.

Stan Rogers, Ian Tyson, Hank Snow, The Rankin Family...lots of great Canadian talent. Love it. I've got most of Stans stuff.
