A find at a thrift store

It was reported on the news at noon that a North Carolina couple were in a second hand shop and they found a sweater that said West Point on the front. They bought it for 58 cents tax included. Upon further examination they found the name Lombardi on the inside tag. After some research and verification it is now believed to be Vince Lombardi's football sweater from West point and has been estimated to be worth over $20,000 dollars and could sell even higher at auction. That's quite a find ,I'd say!

I would guess that whoever would pay $20K for that sweater makes a lot more money than we do without working very hard to get it.

As has been said: "A fool and his money are soon parted".

It's called spreading the wealth. Hopefully the person who gets the money will put it into the economy instead of it laying in the other guys account.

When Uncle Sam gets through gouging them for taxes they will probably wish it was still worth $.58. TDF

Likely the deranged moron who paid $50K for a pair of Justin Bieber's used sneakers. The 'Boob' is one of Canada's biggest embarrassments.

Odds are that if they were shopping there, they aren't wealthy and could use the money. I hope that there truly is a God and it all works out very well for them. I'll say a prayer.

We're not wealthy, but are quite comfortable, and we shop secondhand stores all the time. Lots of good stuff there, and the profits go to a good cause.

Fred, I didn't mean that as a slight or anything of the sort. They could be in the same position as yourself. My point was intended in the best of ways that if they are or were needy, hopefully their luck just changed in a very good way. Truth be told, I hope that it was Lombardi's sweater and they get at least $50,000 for it.

After reading all the comments, I must agree that I hope they come out good on the deal.Concerning shopping at thrift stores, it is practical. Why buy a new widget for full price, when you can buy one at a thrift store for a fraction? When the kids were growing up, we clothed them from yard sales and thrift stores. They wore name brand clothing that we would not have been able to afford otherwise. As to who would pay such a price for a sweater? It's all about having something that no one else has. I don't begrudge someone buying whatever they like, I have a bucket list myself, problem is, the bucket doesn't have any money in it! It matters not what you have, generally there is someone who collects it and will buy yours.
