OT/gold raspberries

Saturday we were at Tractor Supply. Noticed they had some gold raspberry vines called "fall gold".

I was intrigued and bought one. Anybody know anything about them?

The ones we have are excellent....fruit right through to mid end Oct...we are pretty mild on the coast...Vancouver Island.

They only yield about 30% of a well managed fall red raspberry but the flavor is far superior in my mind. The flavors are delicate and don't handle cooked jam well, the lose a lot of flavor when cooked. Makes excellent freezer jam or good fresh eating.

If you want that sort of raspberry, I suggest you get the newer cultivar Anne (which is more yellow than orange). You might have to mail order it. For us it significantly outyields any of the other orange ones.

I have some that showed up in my raspberry patch a few years ago. Don't have any idea where they came from as I've never seen any anywhere around me. I think I have the birds to thank. They sure are good.
