O.T. My eventful day (long story)

Last Sunday we got about 8 inches of snow. My wife had a medical appointment on Monday morning. Our DIL was going to take her to town. Because of the weather and road conditions, I decided to take the morning off to do the job. I went out and
started garden tractor with blower and cab. I had backed it in so I could blow snow on the way out. Before I got rear wheels out of garage the drive chain broke. I backed in, took chain off and ground broken chain link off. I tried to re-install but one end link was twisted. Went to the drawer and got a new chain and cut to length and installed it. I went out to blow, but it wouldn’t steer like it should. Flat front tire. Limped back to garage and inflated tire. Went back out to blow. Got a path around the circle and by then tire was flat again. Blower wouldn’t hardly work, so I checked the belt. Belt was stretched, shredded and twisted. Put blower back in garage. I needed to move car out so I had room to work on blower. Snow bank in the way. Tried to start up the loader tractor, but battery was low. Jumped started with pickup and it started. It ran a little while and quit. Wouldn’t start again. Ice in gas tank I presume. I poured some gas line antifreeze in tank and put electric space heater next to bottom of gas tank and covered with a tarp. I went inside and took the wife in to the doctor. I bought a new belt on the way home and then fixed lunch. Since the morning went so well, I took the afternoon off too.

I went outside and loader tractor started. I pushed a snow bank out of the front of my shop so I could get my car out so I had room to work on blower. I then pushed into a large snowbank and got stuck. It wouldn’t back out so I grabbed a tire chain and threw it under the tire. It wouldn’t grab, so I idled it down, put it in reverse and threw the chain under the tire and it backed out. I grabbed the hand clutch and stopped it without getting run over. I moved my car out and put the new belt on and sealed the tire to the rim. Then I went back out to blow more snow. Thought I had enough done, so I parked the blower and was going to move the tractor into the shop and put the tire chains on. It wouldn’t start, so I put the battery charger on it again, put my car away and went in as it was 4:30 I fixed supper, did some more laundry and some other chores.

Long day even though it was only 7:30 I read 2 days newspaper, watched an hour of tv, surfed the net for awhile and that was my day.

Good points!-Still have all my fingers, not even any blood, No frostbite

Wife was sympathetic, for what that is worth.

Only cost out of pocket was a $10 belt. Other than a new belt, I had everything else I need to fix things. I know there is another new belt in shop somewhere. I need to throw it in toolbox of cab so I can find it when I need it next
Furnace was working in shop
Dog was happy I stayed home

Wow I'm cold and exhausted from just reading it. I think I'm going back to bed.

Right after I got a concussion, all kids of things started happening around the house. Didn't feel like fixing, but when it had to be fixed I had no choice. Brother & SIL came and helped with the water heater repair.

After I recovered, nothing broke or went haywire. That's just life in the fast lane.

The way my life happens, none of it really surprised me. You just have to take life a minute, an hour, or a day at a time. Last night about 11 I took my wife to the local emergency room and got her settled in a hospital room at 5:00 a.m. I got home about 7:30p.m. and will go back tomorrow to see what else I haven't planned that I get to do.
