What are fuel fenders did anybody Ever have a set on a tractor?

Auxilary fuel tanks. They were placed in the fenders to 'save' space.I think they held 25 gallons each.I ran an 1855 once that had them.Really stretched the fueling intervals.

They were common on the larger Oliver tractors. Neighbor had a 2155 that had them. HE could cover a lot of ground between fills. He did have issues with the check valves in the fuel lines at the bottom of the fenders he had to mess with them. I am not sure what trouble he actually had with them but he did. In later years he just caped the lines off on the fender tanks.

Fender tanks hold 39 gallons each. They added weight to the rear end when full, really stretched time between fill ups, specially when doing light work, planting, cultivating, spraying haying etc. The main tank has a non vented cap and the fenders are vented, sucks the fuel out of the fenders. My 1855 had them before I got it and according to the individual I bought from the weight and rust so weakened the supports he switched to regular fenders. According to the books I have they held 30 gallon each and the fuel was pulled to the main tank by the vacuum created in the main tank by fuel usage. That proved to be troublesome as ANY leak in the main tank or the connecting hoses stopped fuel flow.
The year-around cabs on the 2255 have them also which means if a cab was put one of the other tractors it had them. I have learned the cab will fit 1755 and up. I am slowly repairing a cab for my 1855 and am planning on installing a fuel pump to transfer the fuel.

Had a friend whose dad built a set of tanks that looked like(and substituted for)fenders on a 3010 JD back in the "60"s. He used them for chemical tanks and didn"t have to mount a barrel on the tractor.

had them on the 2150 mfwd oliver dad used to have. put alot of seat time in on that unit. wish i could find it back.

I got a set from a 50 series on our 1855. Extra headlights wired in and it'll go somewhere around 20 hours between fill ups in heavy work. Whenever the fuel man would put it right in the tractor between the 3 tanks was well over 100 gallons.

I need something like those fuel tank fenders on my G John Deere...that thing will soak up the 15 gallons or so I put in the 17 gallon tank to plow with sooner than I get tired....'bout 3 hours is all it takes....mebbe 4 if I stop and BS a little bit.
