Popping/ Snapping 2N

so tonight I received a phone callfrom my father saying he has broke our 2n!!!! we got three inches of light snow last night and he was cleaning up the driveway with our 5ft scraper blade, while trying to push in reverse he notice only one wheel spinning or trying to go so he worked the brake and he still couldn't go. he picked the blade up and tried to turn around but the tractor wouldn't steer now going forward it seemed to be locked up. but he then noticed a popping/ snapping sound from the left rear wheel end but still moved so he parked it and this is where I was called... so after a quick look in -2 cold I found the right wheel end always driving and the left wheel end to be popping and snapping while intermittently providing forward or backward momentum. so I guess just looking for a little better idea and guidance with this 2n drive problem any help would be appreciated. thanks Cory

Cory I would post the question on the 9N/2N/8N forum here on YT.
But to me it sounds like you may have a broken axle.
Here's a link to the N Forum

When it warms up a little... Jack the left wheel
off the ground and see if it will turn.

If not, could be stuck/frozen brake, or seized
bearing.

If it turns freely in gear, could be broken axle
or spider gear.

If it turns part way and locks/crunches, sounds
like broken spider gears in the differential.

I have an 8N rear end for parts that still have the gears and axles in it if you need parts. My email's open. Keith
