Ambushed at McDonalds

The wife and I had to drop off the tax stuff,so we went to McDonalds for dinner on the way. We ordered and they told us it was free if we'd give each other a hug.
I should have told them we don't take charity,we plan to hold on to our standing in the community, but it took me off guard too much to do anything but hug her.
Maybe it'd be a good day to buy a lottery ticket. lol

I got my coffee free on Monday, too. Its some kind of promotion that was in their Super Bowl ad- they randomly select people to pay "with love"- such as hugging your companion, or in my case, giving the counter gal a fist bump. Not sure my selection was totally "random"- been going in there for coffee for the past 20 years, and I get along pretty well with the staff.

This happened to a co-worker, who had not heard about the promotion. The manager hugged him. He's a cheapskate so he didn't have a problem with it.

I avoid Mickey D's unless for breakfast. Treat myself once a week, and that is Sunday morning on my way to church. Usually a Bacon Egg Cheese biscuit and Hash Browns, but lately no hash browns as trying to loose a few extra pounds.

I pretty much stopped eating at the fast food places when I started to see that it was costing me as much to get my belly full as it would to go sit in a diner and get better food.
When the sandwiches started to hit the $4.00 mark, it took generally 2 sandwiches, fries, and a drink to fill me up. The tab came to around $10 for a meal for me. I can go to any of 3 local diners and get the special of the day brought to me for $8.95, and get salad bar and soup included.

Hmmmmm.....McDonalds? Or a hot fresh cooked meal served to me........ no brainer! Even leaves enough left over to give the waitress a decent tip.

My 23 year old daughter just started working at the Leo Burnett ad agency in Chicago, she's on the McDonalds team trying to bring them back. Wacker drive, building on the left. She thinks Chicago is the greatest place on earth.

The wife turned around and hugged the guy behind her too, told the gal she just paid for his.

Question, the diners can you get the meal to go and eat it on the way. That is what it is whenever I stop at place like McDonalds. Others perhaps twice a year.

After decades in the fire equipment business I've been in so many kitchens I choose which restaurants to eat in. The secretaries just tell me they don't want to know

there is a pretty good one on lehigh st allentown, just past the home depot, a silver looking diner,I forget the name of it,,has a salad bar all you can eat,and a cup of good soup for 6 99 ,has tater and macoroni salad and fruit at the salad bar,not a bad deal for the price and pretty good,,,ever try it?

I think the one you mean is the Queen City Diner at the corner of Lehigh St and Vultee St. I have been in there a few times, and the food was good. There are actually quite a few around here that are good. Sunset Diner on 4th street and City View on MacArthur Road come to mind.
I don't often eat out, since I do cook quite a bit, and for what it is worth, my cooking is generally pretty darn good. Add to that all of the fresh no chemical produce that I raise and help to raise on my friend's farm. I eat so many vegetables in season that my ears are getting long and my nose is beginning to twitch.....

My neighbor went in by himself and they asked him for a joke.He always has one,so he got a free coffee.

Saw a clip on the computer about free meal if you danced, and I ruled out that option for me.

There's a McD in Marion Illinois that our work crew would meet at every morning. Those gals got to know me, and if there was a bus load of people in line, they'd wave me to my seat and bring out my regular breakfast order. If there was still a long line when I left, they'd wave me out the door and I'd pay them tomorrow. They knew we had to be on the job at 7. Pretty darn good bunch of gals. I compare all McD's to the Marion one, and am always disappointed.

Happened to wife and I on Tuesday. We go to McDonalds about once a year- probably should have bought a lottery ticket too. What do they say about lightening never striking twice in the same spot- so we passed on the ticket. Nice to get something once in a while- good for them.

In foreign countries, Germany being one, they serve beer (bier) at places like McDonald's. So one night me and some fellow GI's go into Mannheim and got hammered. Its late, time to find our way home, but there's a McDonalds, we're hungry and...they serve beer (bier). We go in, and without warning one of my buddies flops onto the floor and starts convulsing. We all think he's dying and an ambulance comes. When the crew gets inside, he gets up and starts laughing, drunkly that he had just had a Big Mac attack. By that time, the police (Polizei) had arrived. The complaints and protests going on around our nation right now about how mean and abusive our police are? I'd really love to see them try that around or with the Polizei. Like my buddy, they'd last about half of one second. My buddy got his derriere kicked, putting it midly. Your day at McDonald's went much, much, much better than my buddy's day. He got his clock cleaned and they were eyeballing us and we had nothing to do with it, so they let us...leave.

Been there. That is a nice little truck show. Some pretty stuff shows up. Did you go on the Mack plant tour?

My wife and I had an odd occurrence a the Mc D's In Chilliwack B.C. the last time we stopped at one (15-20 yrs. go). The joint was full to the grim at the lunching hr. We got our grub and some poor sucker had a 'jammer' (probly the food!), out of nowhere a waitress (saw her coming from across the floor without stopping) comes to to my wife and asks " are you a nurse?" Of course she is and had to deal with the (minor) problem until the 'para's got there. 'Nother reason not to go ---How did she know ? Like the vacuum bottle - How does it know whether the contents are hot or cold ???

Some years ago, I was in another town to pick up some building materials that my company had ordered. Had to wait about three hours, so about ten, I eased down to McDonalds for a snack. I was only in my early fifties, but my hair was already grey, and when I paid my ticket I told the cashier, "You didn't charge me for my coffee." She replied,"Sir, senior citizens get free cofee." Hmmm, "Oh, OK, thanky kindly M'am."

Haven't been to McD's in the last 5 years. We go to In-N-Out for much better burgers and fries. Everything they use is fresh; they don't have any freezers nor microwaves.

So you ain't the only one who got to witness the Polizei at work? I think of a couple of incidents I saw every time someone yells about police brutality here!

Jeffcat,
We have gone the last 15 years, but never made the tour to the Mack plant.
The ATHS show is in York this year, going to try and hit both.
