Plugged into Google News just now and had to share this:

Seems a county in Wyoming of all places got a new sheriff. Told a deputy of 40 years that he had to dump his cowboy hat and other attire and dress more professionally. He quit!

Now you don't suppose that the new sheriff was a youngster right out of college and sheriff's prep school.
You don't suppose the deputy told the new sheriff just how "things are done around here..........SONNY!"
You don't suppose the new sheriff felt that this old "GEEZER" had to go.
You don't suppose the new sheriff was smart enough to figure out that being in Wyoming of all places and on the job that long that he was going to shed his cowboy hat and spurs.
You don't suppose that he was also smart enough to figure out that this was the easiest way to get rid of him.

On all counts.......................NAW, ya think? LMAO

Texasmark1,

I read that same article yesterday and laughed out loud. We just elected a new sheriff in our county. He wears cowboy boots and a cowboy hat regularly. We actually have a "Cowboy Church" that meets about 1/2 mile away from the sheriff's office. Sheriff Rowland (our new sheriff) recently attended there and commended the people in attendance.

And this is all in Tennessee, not Wyoming.

Ours wear cowboy hats too, similar to what LBJ used to wear, boots maybe, but no spurs.....grin. We do however have a detachment that is in the animal recovery business and they do and do ride horses. Cowboy churches are getting popular here too. Obvious reason.

Well, our deputies don't wear cowboy boots or hats, but at the beginning of January several deputies in our county showed up for work one morning and were told that they no longer had a job! No explanation, no prior warning. I don't believe they ever got a satisfactory answer. (North Carolina is one of only a few states where you can be fired for no specific reason.)

Looking at his picture pretty much summed up his attitude.
Surprised that the new sheriff was that old. So, what did he do with
the rest of his life?
