had the same thing once,, gave them the address of the postal inspector, address, etc.. always woundered what happened when the p/o inspector got it.

That doesn't sound good.

However, I had an Alfa Romeo that had been parked for 20 years here, advertised it on craigslist. Within an hour a local guy showed up with cash. An hour later the ad was deleted.

In that time I also got an email from California saying much the same thing as you got. I always request the buyer's phone number. Searched it and discovered my guy had been buying a lot of Ferrari and Porsche parts and cars. Apparently was legitimate.

Turned out 3 guys all had registered their Alfa interest with craigslist and were hot to go. My Alfa was a rust bucket, but the right model.

BTW, UPS delivers to my PO Box. They stop daily at the PO for a lot of deliveries to boxes.

Total scam. They will by mistake send you more than you asking for. They will then ask you for a refund. You return the overage cash the check. The check plays rubber ball. You get stuck with a bad check. Of course they are in a hurry and don't have time to wait for their check to clear. But you can trust them.

'Picture of the item'

You could be selling a boat, a car, a football, anything. There is nothing at all personal, or descriptive in that whole message.

They can send that same message to 10,000 people in 15 minutes and could apply to any item at all.

That means it is a scam.

If they at least mention your item, then it has to be a special message written to you, and work looking at.

As written, it is 100% scam! because they don't say a thing about your 'item'.

One of the clues to spam.

Hi How do you get that to work with U.P.S and boxes . Here in Manitoba your lucky if you can get them to deliver 50 ft off a main provincial highway. If there is any municipal gravel road between that road and your place forget it!
They loose tons of business round here due to that and crazy brokerage fees, for importing stuff.
Anything from the U.S.A gets drop shipped at the border and I private import for my business.
Regards Robert

that is correct, who doesn't ask about condition of an item you may wish to purchase ? ? (scammers)

I had a response like that once, when I 'advert" a horse ! not one question, just "I will purchase your item" ! ya right ! replied CASH on pick up, no replies then.

Robert, I don't know. There are some US places where UPS hires delivery of parcels out to the USPS, but this PO is not one of those locations. I suppose it's a local thing where the rural PO got permission to take parcels from UPS as a service to their boxholders, solving a lot of long driveway problems for UPS drivers.

Here, UPS drivers are required to deliver to the house, no exceptions. Except that doesn't always happen. My driveway's 1/2 mile long and rises 400 ft in elevation. Some drivers don't mind. Others are scared witless. Several times the parcel was left at the entrance to our driveway, where we might not find it for a few days, if it was still there. Our solution is to avoid them delivering here.
