Power steering

I want to add power steering to my international B275. Can I
use a power steering pump with an internal control valve with
a power assist cylinder from a hydrostatic system? Would this
work or would their ne other parts I would need to make it
operable?
Thanks,
Troy

I assume your talking about a pump with an internal PRESSURE control valve????

The assist cylinder would need to have directional control valve built into one end for it to work without a steering box control directional valve. The power assist steering on the Ford 4 cylinder tractors worked with the directional valve on the cylinder.

The valve is usually on the assist cylinder. When the steering linkage from the steering box pushes or pulls the first small movement operates the directional control valve.

So a Plain old cylinder would not do anything with out a control valve somewhere.

Here is some pictures of a power assist system someone made. The pictures are on YT back in 2011. So you could search for the original post.
