Battery OK. Back in and nothing again, no lights or horn so, I started looking for the system feed. The wire was broken off at the starter relay. I must have moved it when I took out the blower motor. 15 years and 220K, it's old and brittle just like me. Thanks for the help. You can always count on the YT crowd.
 
Good for you--It was a fuse link most likely. they are designed to burn into in case of short circuit. they get fragile. make sure you replace with same, not regular wire] for protection if this is case.
 
It gets worse. It wasn't the fuse link but the lug on the end where it connects to the stud of the relay. When I "carefully" tried to remove the nut the other two lugs on the stud broke. One goes to the alternator and one to bat+. Going to do some re-wiring next week.
