The Royal National Lifeboat Institution {RNLI} operates live boats around the coastline of Britain to rescue boats & sailors in distress. Manned by volunteers, the RNLI receives no government money, all revenue comes from public donations.
This photo was taken in late 1920's when this lifeboat was hauled around the cities & towns of Britain to raise funds by public donations. When touring through Tildesleys' area they provided the motive power.
A Fordson industrial on solid rubber wheels and a Hendon front mounted winch chain driven off the belt pulley.
The eastern part of Tildesleys' sales area covered a large part of the industrial Midlands north & west of Birmingham. Tildesleys sold 100's of industrial tractors to factories, haulage companies, Councils, golf courses etc.
