What I built today

I knew my chance of ever finding the correct factory swinging drawbar for my Oliver 500 in my lifetime was less than zero,so I built one. It mounts the same as the correct one,but the original frame was made of channel iron that was bent in to shape. I used angle iron. The drawbar itself is part of an old Deere F145 plow that I dismantled years ago.
I need to take it back off and do some grinding and finishing on it,and make some pins. I just stuck some bolts in it for now.

Ya,I'm kinda proud of it. Here's what the original looks like. I don't remember where I got this picture,CL ad or something. It looks like they made it too narrow. The lift arms don't hang straight. Mine's a little more symmetrical.
I've got the schematic for the original too. Mine's a little more simple.

Darned sturdy looking outfit. Can that beast pull some wagon loads of silage out of the fields or is she in semi retirement. Doubt if too many of those models are left around.

Don't ask! Got a 200 Farmall needs a crank replaced! Gonna be laid up for a few weeks here soon. Have been trying to get every thing lined up for that occasion! Except for getting hay where wife can get at it, pretty well run out of excuses.

It's pretty well retired, but it's nice to have the option of being able to hook on to something if I want to. This one's a gasser, that makes it even more rare. There were darned few of those to begin with vs the diesel models, but I only know personally of three other gassers in the country that run.

Nice JOB!! You also increased the value of that oliver two fold with that drawbar being J.D. color also.. BONUS... lol had to do it..

So i have to ask , does the hitch lift and lower if the linkage is raised and lowered?? would make it really handy for hitching up those things where the jack as sunk and inch or two, save having to get off the tractor to wind the jack some more...

Nice work.

It would raise and lower some if I flipped the lever and engaged the 3 point. They had a lever on the far right side of the rockshaft that you have to turn 90 degrees to engage and disengage it. I would have to turn the lift rods out to make it go lower and if it raised too far it would start bending things, but it would go up some.

Randy, yours looks a lot better with the lift arms hanging straight. Like they say, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
